(30) Towards the Year of Faith: Raine Eguico

[As we move toward the launch of the Year of Faith, we asked our Young Fulltimers to share their faith journey. Read their stories in their own words]

As I look at my life, there’s no better word to describe it than with the word BLESSED. God is such a gracious God in my life. He allowed me to be born to very loving parents and to be part of a simple yet blessed family with my two good-hearted younger siblings. I met Christ at a young age, at 8 years old to be exact, through a kids’ ministry. Like what some people say, when God’s love finally catches you, there’s no way to escape that love.

That’s exactly what happened to me. He has filled me with so much love through different people, places and events, through the years, that I just can’t keep it to myself. I once thought, “If God has been so faithful in fulfilling His promises in my life and has never stopped loving me, who am I not to offer my whole life as a response to that unending love and faithfulness?” I may be selfish during my younger years as a kid and as a teenager, and I would make all ways to get what I want, but everything changed when I met Christ on a much deeper level.

Whenever I look at Him on the Cross and see how much He loves me (with arms wide open), selfishness stops to be an option. Selflessness becomes the only option, all the time.
