A CORRUPT GENERATION

FROM THE SERVANT GENERAL

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

(Part 75)

A CORRUPT GENERATION

May 7, 2017

Today’s reading:  Acts 2:14-41

“Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” (Acts 2:40b). Today’s generation is even more corrupt than in the time of Jesus. God’s people (the Jews then and many Christians now) have rejected Jesus and his teachings. God’s Church people (the scribes and Pharisees then and many clerics, religious, bishops and lay leaders now) have turned away from orthodox faith and magisterial teaching. Modernism holds sway in many parishes and dioceses, especially in the West.

“What are we to do”? (Acts 2:37c). As it was then, so should it be now. “Repent …. and receive the gift of the holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38). The call for lapsed and unfaithful Catholics is to repentance and faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, and to being filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

This is the work of the New Evangelization.
