The project is a collaboration between Intellicare, Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life (CFCFFL) Work for the Poor, and Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Magkakapit Bahay sa Barangay Bagbag Homeowners Association, Inc.

Intellicare sponsored the construction of an out-patient clinic on the third floor of the site’s multi-purpose hall. The clinic is 30 square-meters big with two consultation rooms and a waiting area. Intellicare also provided the basic medical equipment such as BP apparatus, ECG, nebulizer, and the like, as well as a personal computer to record the patients’ illnesses.

To add, the brother-doctors from CFCFFL Health Ministry volunteered to give free consultations on weekends.

The formal turnover ceremony was held on March 5, 2013. Present were Intellicare senior officers led by their Chairman and President, Mr. Mario M. Silos, and members of the CFCFFL, headed by Bro. Oscar “Nong” Contreras, Social Ministry Director.

To be able to attend the World Youth Day has always been a desire that I had, dating back to when it was celebrated here in the Philippines in 1995. But apparently, I never had the chance to attend any of the WYDs that transpired from that year on ‘til the recent one in 2011. Financial constraint was one of the main reasons that hindered me to really pursue such desire. In 2011, just when I thought that I would at last be given the chance to make such a desire to a reality, I was called out for foreign mission and had to cancel my application. Honestly, it was a bit hard for me to accept that I had to let go of such an opportunity that placed me so close to fulfilling one of my greatest dreams. But amidst everything, there was still this part of me that made me claim that there is a perfect time for the fulfillment of my dream to attend WYD.

Hearing the ones who were able to attend the WYD on how their experience was, inspired me more into pursuing again my desire to go to WYD especially that there is one scheduled for this year – WYD in Rio. For me, it’s not just about going to another country and exploring the place but basically being able to experience a life changing event in my life as a Catholic. As I celebrate my 30^th this year, being able to attend the WYD is something very personal. As I go into a deeper personal faith journey in my life as a missionary and as a woman of God, I believe that this experience would allow me to discover and re-discover the many things that the Lord has set for me.

More than the reality that the preparation entails the challenge of looking for monetary funding is the fact that the preparation towards the WYD is for me a preparation of self, both emotionally and more so spiritually. Going to the WYD is an act of my saying YES to God’s invitation to grow deeper in my personal appreciation of my faith and as well as to celebrate such blessing of faith with other delegates from the different participating youth groups around the world.

With all of these wonderful things ahead, I am excited and definitely looking forward for my 1^st ever WYD experience!

After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.
Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

DO GREATER WORKS

My dear brethren,

I am particularly excited about our life and work in this new year. Many significant aspects have intersected. The pope has called for the New Evangelization, the Church has proclaimed the Year of Faith, we are formally launching the Live Christ, Share Christ (LCSC) movement, and we have taken on a super theme of “Faith Works Wonders” drawn from John 14:12.

This year is when we start getting back on track on rapid and massive evangelization. This has always been our calling, our charism, our reason for living. And such massive evangelization is precisely the need during these challenging times in this third millennium. The tsunami of evil that is the culture of death is overwhelming the whole world. Christians, especially Roman Catholics, need to rise in defense of the faith, of family and of life.

But as always, it depends on each of us individually. Each of us needs to make the decision to live our lives only for God, and to serve Him in building His kingdom on earth. If and when we do, then the Spirit empowers us, since we have just made ourselves the instruments that God indeed desires so much to use. It is all about God and His plan for the world.

So in this Year of Faith, do BE.LI.EV.E! Walk everyday with Jesus, never neglecting prayer and the Bible. Move steadily forward on the path to holiness and Christian perfection, enabled by the Eucharist. Share the good news boldly and persistently.

Know that there is already that person God is relying on you to reach. Know the joy of bringing someone else to salvation. As you do, God blesses you and your family, and takes care of all your needs. He is faithful and true, and is never outdone in generosity.

Thank you for what you have given of yourself in the year that has just ended. Let us all do more.

We are privileged to do the works of Jesus, and even greater works. Let us not miss out on such honor and joy.

THE LIGHT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS

Rejoice, for the Savior has been born!

Jesus was born in very challenging circumstances. He was born to an unwed teen-age mother. Her fiance almost decided to abandon her. He was born in a manger because there was no room for them in an inn. As a newborn baby he had to flee with his parents to Egypt to escape a king intent on killing him.

These are very familiar to the circumstances we face today–teen-age pregnancy out of wedlock, men forcing their girl friends to have an abortion, dire poverty, and worse of all, the holocaust of the unborn. The culture of death pervades throughout the whole world.  The United States just re-elected the most pro-abortion President ever, and this Herod is intent on destroying even more unborn babies. Even the Philippines, the last nation standing against divorce and abortion, has had a reproductive health bill passed. This nation is now at the top of the slippery slope.

There is much to be afraid of.

We face very challenging times in this third millennium, where the assaults against faith, family and life are intensifying.

Just as King Herod was greatly troubled at the news of the birth of the king of the Jews, today’s Herods are troubled by more children in the world. Just as he resorted to deception in asking the magi to search for the child, they resort to lies, deception and manipulation to advance the culture of death. Just as he ordered the massacre of the innocent infants, they are intensifying the work of population control through abortion, contraception, euthanasia, divorce and same-sex marriage.

Just as Caesar Augustus decreed that the whole world should be enrolled in a census, today’s global elites look to a one-world government where every person is registered and given a mark, perhaps a digital implant. Just as the Holy Family had to flee to Egypt, homeschooling parents have had to flee from nations that have criminalized homeschooling, such as Germany and Norway. Just as there was sobbing and loud lamentation in Ramah, mothers forced to abort in China have been utterly devastated.

But then, in the darkness of the night, the light shines forth. In the desperation of the moment, God sends just exactly what we need.

The angel says to us what he said to the shepherds struck with great fear. “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.” (Lk 2:10-11).

This indeed is good news of great joy. Our Savior has been born. He has come to deliver us from our sins, and from the darkness and evil of a fallen world. He who is Life itself has come to defeat the culture of death.

Merry Christmas to all. Rejoice in the Lord always.
