BACOLOD City, Feb. 8, 2012—The Bacolod-based Pope John Paul II National Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, in tandem with the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life are holding a conference on the theology of marriage based on the teachings of Blessed John Paul II.
Titled “Blessed John Paul II’s Nuptial Theology: Call to Family Ministry, Agenda for Humanity,” the conference is slated on February 13 to 17, according to Msgr. Victorino A. Rivas, JCD, President of the Institute.
The five-day conference also commemorates the 31st anniversary of the visit of Blessed Pope John Paul II to Bacolod on February 20, 1981.
Papal nuncio Archbishop Guiseppe Pinto, CBCP president and Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma and chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life and Antipolo Bishop Gabriel Reyes have been invited to grace the occasion.
Participants to the conference are Diocesan Directors and Executive Officers of the Commission on Family and Life of the different dioceses and archdioceses. and heads of Catholic schools in the Philippines.
Msgr. Jose Granados, vice-president of the Pontificio Giovanni Paolo II per Studi su Matrimonio e Famiglia in Rome will deliver the keynote address.
The conference’s major topics are “Nuptial Mystery in the Light of the Blessed John Paul II’s Catechism on Human Love in the Original Divine Plan” and “Nuptial Theology: Philosophical-Anthropological Foundation” both by Fr. Ronald Quijano, SThD, Academic Dean of the PJPII NIMF; “Reflections on Veritatis Splendor of Blessed John Paul II: A Call to Authentic Christian Moral Action” by Fr. Noli Blancaflor, Professor, PJPII NIMF; “Pastoral Challenge and Implications of the Nuptial Theology in the Light of Familiaris Consortio” by Fr. Nitodel Soriano, SThL, PhD, Professor, PJPII NIMF; “Pope John Paul II Institute at the Service of the New Evangelization, Research and Family Ministry” by Dr. Irma Donna Echaus, EdE, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, University of St. La Salle and lecturer at PJPII NIMF; and “Identity, Vision, Mission of John Paul II Institute in the Philippine Context” by Msgr. Rivas, Vicar General of Bacolod diocese.
