FROM THE SERVANT GENERAL
CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2016
CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT FAMILY AND LIFE
December 25, 2016
Jesus is born. Hallelujah! “For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.” (Lk 2:11).
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born of a family, after nine months in the womb of Mother Mary. God decided to emphasize for us the importance of life and family. Indeed this is part of the tripod of our advocacy–family life, evangelization, work with the poor.
But today the Herods of the world are still ordering the massacre of the innocents. Abortion still kills millions of the unborn in the wombs of their mothers. The assault against the family continues unabated, even intensifying. Darkness still hovers over the world, even as the star proclaiming the coming of Christ shines brightly in the heavens.
We rightfully celebrate this time of great joy. We also rightfully grieve at the continuing mocking of God’s plan for the world. This is a time of hope, but only if we do our part. Jesus has already done his. Now it is our turn, with the help and empowerment of Jesus’ Spirit. Let us go forth boldly, helping renew the family and defend life, and bringing the Savior into the lives of many more.
“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” (Lk 2:10).
Merry Christmas to you all. I love you all. God bless you and your families.
