DEAF-MUTES

Today’s gospel:  Mark 7:31-37

There are many Catholics who are deaf-mutes. They are deaf to the command of Jesus to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth, and they are mute in sharing Christ to all. We need to beg Jesus “to lay his hand on (them).” (v.32b). We need to pray Jesus’ prayer for them: “‘Ephphatha!’ (that is, ‘Be opened!’).” (v.34b). Let not just their ears and mouths be opened, but also their eyes and their hearts.

Are you one of the deaf-mutes? Know that Jesus “makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” (v.37b).
