They listened. They participated. They danced. They sang. They laughed. They enjoyed. Most of all, THEY LEARNED!
Ten teachers from the different BATA and School of the Morning Star (SMS) centers completed the six-day Headstart (Early Childhood Education Seminar-Workshop) Training conducted by the education ministry of CFC-FFL. They are Susan Madrigal and Julie Donato of San Pedro, Laguna; Elham May Vallarta and Micaella Garing of Candelaria, Quezon; Elizabeth dela Cruz of Novaliches; Florely Taotao of Sogod, Leyte; Marites Root of Paranaque; Ma. Lourdes Castro and Iluminada Serafin of Valenzuela, Bulacan. Binhi ng Pag-Asa Scholar Sharra Mae Domingo also joined the training.
Held from April 16 to 21, 2012 at the CFC-FFL Home Office, the seminar-workshop gave the participants an understanding and appreciation of the Integrated Bible-Based Curriculum (IBBC)/Integrated Values-Based Curriculum (IVBC) implemented by CFC-FFL for all its early childhood education centers in Novaliches, Navotas, Bulacan, Paranaque, Leyte, Quezon Province, and Caloocan. Said curriculum is also being implemented by the CFC-FFL supervised schools offering pre-school to high school curriculum in Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon.
The participants were given not only the theoretical background behind the IBBC/IVBC and the progressive approach to education, but they were also given plenty of time to develop their own curriculum which they will implement for school year 2012-2013. More importantly, they were given this great opportunity to form new friendships with fellow teachers who share the same mission of serving the Lord through His little children. They will have more bonding moments as they get to see each other monthly for their regular training and formation sessions to be offered by the CFC-FFL Education Ministry.
We thank all those who shared their time by serving as resource speakers during the training: Gigi dela Cruz of CFC-FFL District of Novaliches; Viva Reyes of SMS Candelaria; May Cabutihan, CFCEFI SPED Consultant; Joy Filamor, CFCEFI all-time volunteer.
We are truly grateful to Teachers Karen Gutierrez of BATA Center – Restoration Village Brampton (Novaliches) and Vislumin San Diego of BATA Center – Mission Village Pandi (Bulacan) who did not only serve as resource speakers, but who also ably assisted the CFCEFI Headstart Team, headed by Teacher Marlyn Surtida.
