LOOK AT JESUS, LOOK TO THE POOR

FROM THE SERVANT GENERAL

OUR THEME FOR 2015

(Part 19)

LOOK AT JESUS, LOOK TO THE POOR

December 3, 2014

Today’s reading: “This is the Lord to whom we looked” (Is 25:9c).

Our theme verse for 2015, as announced last September 22, is from Acts 4:34a: “There was no needy person among them.”

Our theme for 2015 is this:

Look at Jesus, Look to the Poor

(No One in Need)

We also said that the larger context of our theme is from Acts 4:31-35, with four elements that will support our basic thrust for the year. (1) v.31 — worship; (2) v.32a — unity of heart and mind; (3) v.32b — stewardship; and (4) v.33a — evangelization. With these, the hoped-for end result upon us as a community is God’s favor and empowerment, as “great favor was accorded them all.” (v.33b). The hoped-for end result of our community work will be that we can help effectively build the Church of the Poor, so that there will be no one in need. “There was no needy person among them” (v.34a).

Consistent with last year (2014), and indeed building on last year, we can look to this matrix.
