(Pat Oconer, International Coordinator of CFC FFL Work with the Poor)
Last Saturday, CFC FFL WWP Laguna together with the beneficiaries of Mother of Mercy Restoration Village in San Pedro, turned over 6 new houses to our brothers and sisters in Brgy. San Vicente. The past week had been raining so hard, but last Saturday’s weather was perfect, and everyone gathered to thank the Lord for the gift of life, and the gift of community.
We started the celebration by worshipping the Lord together, and thanking Him for the many blessings we have received the past weeks, and at the same time, exhorted them to prepare for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.
The house turn over ceremony was full of emotion especially to those beneficiaries who have longed to have their own house that they can call their home. 6 families where blessed to receive their early Christmas gift, and together with their kids, and CFC FFL brethren, everyone was overjoyed to see families rejoicing.
We are all called to be stewards of the gift, and we are all accountable to one another for we belong to one Father. We have a role to play, and we are all blessed by God. We all have something to give, we just have to recognize it. We thank the donor of the land and the houses that have been built. We thank Dra. Oliver for her generosity, together with her family and friends who have helped and took part in sharing their blessings to the least among us. They are truly heaven sent, and a gift to the community that we are building in Brgy. San Vicente.
Currently we have 18 houses built, still a long way to go to finish the target number of houses for Mother of Mercy RV. The task is huge, but we are grateful, confident, and convicted, that we can share and give more. We have started with 18 families, we have seen their lives change, now they are the ones sharing that blessing to their neighbor. The Lord has been with us all the way, we just have to remain faithful to Him and we claim that with God, everything is possible.
