PAUL’S SPEECH BEFORE KING AGRIPPA

May 22, 2015

We continue to see how Paul preached in every situation. The basic gospel message is the same. This is the kerygma, the initial preaching or proclamation of the good news of salvation in Jesus. This is also what we do in the LCSC LCS.

Here are the essential elements of the gospel preached by Paul to King Agrippa and prominent citizens of Caesarea (as aligned with our LCS sessions).

  • Session #1:  Jesus the Messiah

“I myself once thought that I had to do many things against the name of Jesus the Nazorean” (Acts 26:9)

“that the Messiah must suffer and that, as the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.” (Acts 26:23)

  • Session #2:  Called to Witness

“I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness of what you have seen of me and what you will be shown.” (Acts 26:16b)

  • Session #3:  Repentance and Faith

“to open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may obtain forgiveness of sins” (Acts 26:18a)

Such preaching was for Jews and Gentiles, for the lowly and the lofty, for the oppressed and the oppressor, for the godly and the ungodly. Such is our same message today, to be preached to the ends of the earth.
