God’s work of establishing intimacy with His people is the first priority of the Radicality of Christ. It was windy and rainy Saturday morning, the Lord told me in the Committed Servants Weekend held in Tagaytay last weekend, that anything that I do that is not founded in LOVE is unstable. I’ve been in the ministry for long enough to know that it can be very unpredictable. Its been almost 20 months when i left my fulltime pastoral work in CFC FFL. I thought my life today with my new environment would be easier because of my foundation as a missionary. But to be in the government is not so easy and stable.
I was struck by the gospel of John (15: 10,14) “if you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love… You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” I knew i wanted to be a friend of Jesus and abide in His love. In order for me to be friend of Jesus and abide in His Love, i have to do what he commands me to do. Everyday, i meet a lot of kinds of people in the office seeking for help, advice, and most of the time financial assistance. Sometimes there are circumstances that one of your bosses will yell at you in front of many people but how will you respond to it radically? Do I need to be the same way? But what was it that the Lord commanded me to do?
My realization during CSW God taught me to love those who hate me. I’m so blessed because God taught me how to be humble with those kinds of situations. Undoubtedly, God gave His Son Jesus Christ to us to show his Radical Love and Humility. But what hit me is that, while I had always loved people, from the gospel of John 15:12 “ This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”, my love shifted to a new source. From that point, it was my desire to be a son and friend of God that produced a love for others in me.
