Today’s reading:  Ephesians 2:19-22

We are “the holy ones” and are “apostles and prophets” (v. 19-20). The holy ones are those who are set apart, who live the life of Christ. Prophets are those who witness to Christ, who proclaim the gospel. Apostles are those who are sent, who are on mission, who thus engage in spiritual warfare. Thus we are saints, martyrs and warriors.

This is the fullness of our call as Christians. And what does this make of us? We become citizens of the Kingdom and fully a part of God’s family. We “are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God.” (v.19b). We can truly claim to be children of God.

But here is the amazing reality: we live in God but also God lives in us. We dwell in God’s Kingdom but God also dwells in us, as we become temples of the Holy Spirit. Thus, “in him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (v.22).

God expects a lot from His people, as His holy people who as prophets and apostles do the work of evangelization, so crucial to the life of the world today. Thus God not only empowers us to witness, but He has fully prepared us. We are founded on Christ himself, and we have all those saints who have gone before us. We are “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ himself as the capstone.” (v.20).

Christ is our all. As the community of CFC-FFL our first Core Value is being centered on Christ. Our second Core Value is being evangelistic and missionary. As we keep our focus on Jesus, we are able to work in unity in the one vision and mission given us. Then we truly become God’s body on earth, doing divine work. “Through him the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord” (v.21).

There you are. Live your call.
