The CFC-FFL Women’s Statement Against Divorce

This statement against Divorce is being issued in defense of Mrs. Emelita Alvarez (spouse of the Congressional Speaker of the House), and many other women who were abandoned by their spouse, for a concubine.
Marriage, although regulated by civil and Church laws, originates neither from the Church nor the State, but from God. Therefore, neither Church nor State can alter the intrinsic definition of marriage, with its indissolubility. As a community, we stand for the sacredness and indissolubility of marriage, and are opposed to all attempts of the legislators in passing a Divorce bill.
The experience [of evil all around and within us] makes itself felt in the relationships between man and woman. Their union has always been threatened by discord, a spirit of domination, infidelity, jealousy, and conflicts that can escalate into hatred and separation. To heal the wounds of sin, man and woman need the help of the grace that God in his infinite mercy never refuses them. ( CCC1606, 1608)

The CFC-FFL Women’s Statement Against Divorce

As of July 31, 2017

The Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life (CFC-FFL) promotes and defends the well-being and welfare of women, and in particular, the very purpose and nature of a woman, according to God’s will. Further, we, the CFC-FFL women uphold, promote and protect the institution of motherhood, a natural vocation of a woman, as a loving fruit of marriage between husband and wife.

We stand by and support Mrs. Emelita Alvarez, legitimate wife of Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who publicly spoke against her husband’s declaration to hasten the passage of a bill on Divorce and Same-Sex Unions. She exemplifies all women, who may be gravely disadvantaged, should the Divorce Law come to pass. In her declaration, Mrs. Alvarez, courageously exposed her current situation, having been abandoned for another woman (an unfortunate choice), for an extramarital affair and immoral cohabitation, after 30 years of a marriage union.

The Economic well-being of a society is founded on a strong family and solid

marriage.

Some ill-effects of Divorce on Women and Children:

• Depression

• Financial Distress – Divorce’s negative effects harm women more than men since women

usually take custody of the couple’s children. Women bear greater financial burdens and

face more stress in their lives.

• Some sociologists have concluded that divorce contributes to many societal problems, including what they call the “feminization of poverty.”

• Divorce often grants men more freedom and fewer responsibilities, whereas divorced women face greater hardships.

CFC-FFL stands for the sanctity of marriage, as an indissoluble institution, created by Our Lord Jesus Christ (Mt 19:6). CFC-FFL supports the appropriate and deliberate execution of a Christian Marriage Preparation Program, that will prepare a man and a woman for the solemn perpetual commitment, and consequently empower a productive and morally upright citizenry.

Women must be cared for and protected as the heart of the home and of society.

Hence, we say “NO” to any attempt at legislating a DIVORCE law!
