THE JUST SHALL FLOURISH

THE JUST SHALL FLOURISH

June 14, 2015

Today’s psalm:  Psalm 92:2-16

“The just shall flourish like the palm tree, shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon.” (v.13). Want to know how to flourish in life and mission, and how to become a firmly-rooted majestic tree? Be just. Do justice. What is justice? It is giving to the other person what is his due.

  • Look at Jesus. To Jesus is due worship as God and obedience as Lord.
  • Look at your brother. To brethren in community is due respect, tolerance, kindness, forgiveness, charity, unity. To elders in community is due respect and submission.
  • Look at the world. To everyone is due the salvation won for them by Jesus on the cross. As such, to everyone is due the proclamation of the gospel, by which they can be saved. To the world is due peace, which Jesus alone can give.
  • Look to the poor. To the poor is due an equitable share of the world’s goods.

How can justice happen? “Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.” (v.14). We must remain in God’s presence, firmly rooted in our faith in Jesus.
